Gauge (Tension)
20 sts and 26 rows = 4ins(10cms) over stocking stitch with size 7(4.5mm) needles. If you obtain more sts per 4ins(10cms) than specified, use larger needles, if less use smaller needles.

Back
With size 7(4.5mm) needles, cast on 108(114:120:126:132:138) sts and work 2 rows k1, p1 rib. Now work in patt as graph, working rs (odd no.) rows from right to left, and ws (even no.)rows from left to right. The patt rep is 8 sts, so patt extra sts at end of rows as given from graph either side of patt rep.

1st row (rs): k1, patt 1(0:3:2:1:0) sts next to right hand side of graph, rep from * to * on graph until the last 2(1:4:3:2:1) sts, patt 1(0:3:2:1:0) sts next to left hand side of graph, k1.
Cont working from graph in this way, with each end st of every row k. 40 rows make up the complete patt.
Cont in patt until work meas 13.5(13.5:13.5:14:14:14.5) ins, (34(34:34:36:36:37)cms), and mark armhole positions.
Cont in patt for a further 9(9.5:9.5:9.5:10:10) ins, (23(24:24:24:25:25) cms.
Total length 22.5(23:23:23.5:24:24.5) ins, (57(58:58:60:61:62) cms), fin ws row.
Shape back neck: Bind off (cast off) 36(38:41:43:45:47) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Leave rem 36(38:38:40:42:44) sts on st holder or spare needle for back neck.

Front
As back until work meas 19.5(20:20:20:21:21) ins, (49(50:50:51:53:53)cms), fin ws row. Shape front neck (rs row) patt 44(46:49:51:53:56) sts, slip next 20(22:22:24:26:26) sts onto holder or spare needle for centre front neck, patt to end. Working on these 44(46:49:51:53:56) sts, dec 1 st at neck edge on next 8(8:8:8:8:9) rows. Cont on rem 36(38:41:43:45:47) sts until armhole matches back. Bind off (cast off). Work left side to match, rev shapings.

Sleeves
With size 7 (4.5mm) needles, cast on 52(54:54:56:56:58) sts, and work 2 rows k1, p1, rib. Beg patt as foll:
1st row (rs) k1, patt 1(2:2:3:3:0) as instructions for back, rep from * to *, to last 2(3:3:4:4:1) sts, patt 1(2:2:3:3:0), k1.
Cont in patt, inc 1 st each end every 4th row until there are 90(96:100:104:108:110) sts. Cont without shaping until sleeve meas 16.5(17:17:17.5:17.5:18) ins, (42(43:43:45:45:46) cms from beg, fin ws row. Bind off (cast off).

Neck Band
Join left shoulder seam.
With size 3 (3.25mm) needles and rs facing, pick up and k 36(38:38:40:42:44) sts from holder across back neck. Pick up evenly and k 23(23:23:23:24:26) sts down left front neck, k the 20(22:22:24:26:26) sts from front neck holder, pick up evenly and k 23(23:23:23:24:26) sts up right front neck. 102(106:106:110:116:122) sts in all.
Patt as foll:
1st row (ws) k3(1:1:3:2:1) * p5, k3 * rep from * to * to last 3(1:1:3:2:1) sts, p to end 2nd row (rs) k3(1:1:3:2:1) * p3, k5 * rep from * to * to last 3(1:1:3:2:1) sts, p to end.
3rd row (ws) p3(1:1:3:2:1) * k5, p3 * rep from * to * to last 3(1:1:3:2:1) sts, k to end
4th row (rs) p3(1:1:3:2:1) * k3, p5 * rep from * to * to last 3(1:1:3:2:1) sts, k to end.
Work this 4 row patt for 22 rows in all.
Next row (ws) k to end.
Next row Bind off (cast off) knitwise.

Finishing
Join right shoulder seam and neck band seam. Sew sleeve tops to armholes between markers, centring sleeve on shoulder seam. Join side and sleeve seams. Press garment lightly on ws.
